Sewer Basement Update

The Story Will Be on KSL 5 Tonight (7/19/11) at 6:00 PM MST

So here’s an update on the whole West-Valley-City-flooded-our-basement-with-raw-sewage thing. Many of you know that about a year ago (May 2010), a sub contractor working for West Valley City broke a pipe which resulted in our home being flooded with over 500 gallons of raw sewage.

The short version of the story is that West Valley City refuses to take care of their mistake. We’ve been trying to work with them for over a year now. I’ve been in Mayor Winder’s office twice now, and both times he politely told me that it was my problem not his.

Our basement has been completely gutted for over a year now. It’s completely destroyed from the damage and West Valley, The Mayor, The City CEO and the Sub Contractor are all refusing to pay to repair the damages.

We finally decided to hire an attorney a few weeks ago and she happens to have a contact at KSL. They’ll be here shortly to interview our family and do a story on the whole thing! Hopefully this’ll get things rolling. The story airs tonight.

Meanwhile if anyone feels like helping us get our basement repaired I’ve created a donate button below. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you! Below the Donate Button is a 6 minute video of the damage to our basement. Please Share this story:

The Magic of Children

A while back I wrote a post about how magical children are. You can read it here:

Children are Magical

If you haven’t read that, you should. With our latest addition, Oliveah Gail on April 11, I’m again reminded of how magical children really are. Little Oliveah was a teeny 7 pounds 7 ounces, but a long little thing at 21.5 inches.

She’s Beautiful and has a gorgeous head full of hair. Adding a fifth child to the mix should have been chaotic. It should have been crazy. It should have spread us too thin. It should have been stressful.

Adding a fifth child to the mix was normal. It was sanity. It brought us together. It was peaceful . . . magical.

We love you Oliveah.
